Spaces
Spaces let you manage multiple businesses, each with their own settings, clients, invoices, proposals, etc. in Cakedesk.
#Creating a Space
To create a space in Cakedesk, click the Space Switcher in the bottom left corner and select Manage Spaces…
to open the Spaces Manager.

If you don't have any extra spaces yet, you will first need to buy one. Click Buy More
.

If you already have extra spaces, just click + Space
. Then, enter the name of your company and click Save
.

Your space will then appear in the list of spaces. You can switch to it by clicking its name.

#Switching Between Spaces
To switch between spaces, click the Space Switcher in the bottom left corner and select the space you want to switch to.

#Deleting Spaces
If you no longer need a space, you can delete it to make room for additional spaces. Open the Spaces Manager and click the trash icon next to the space you want to delete.
You must always have at least one space and the first (default) space can't be deleted.

#Pricing
When you buy the normal Cakedesk license, it comes with 1 space.
Extra spaces can be purchased for a one-time fee of €49 each.
If you renew your Cakedesk license to receive an extra year of updates, each space will also be renewed for €34 per space.
Examples:
- Renew normal Cakedesk license: €34
- Renew normal Cakedesk license + 1 extra space: 2 * €34 = €68
#FAQ
#Do I need a subscription to use spaces?
No, Cakedesk does not require a subscription. Additional spaces are bought at a one-time fee. If you renew your license to receive another year of updates, you will also want to renew it for the spaces that you are using.
Renewing your license is optional and lets you receive the most-recent version of Cakedesk.
If you don't renew your license, you can keep using Cakedesk and all the spaces you purchased, but you won't receive any software updates.
#What if I bought a space and don't need it anymore?
You can either delete the space to use it for another company, or keep it for future use. When you renew your license, you can choose to renew only the spaces you need.
#Can I renew only some of my spaces?
If you renew your license, it's recommended to renew it for all the spaces you are using.
However, you can choose to renew only 3 spaces even if you had originally purchased 4. Then newer version of Cakedesk will only work with 3 spaces.
For example, if you purchased a license with 4 spaces and only renew 3 of them, you can only use the latest version of Cakedesk with 3 spaces. The fourth space will remain on your computer, but you won't be able to use it in the latest version of Cakedesk.
#What happens if I don't renew my spaces?
Example: If you're on Cakedesk version 15 and you purchased 3 spaces but only renew 2 of them, you can still use Cakedesk version 15 with all 3 spaces. However, when Cakedesk version 16 is released, you will only be able to use 2 spaces in that version.
#How does buying spaces affect my license expiration date?
Whenever you buy a new space, your license's expiration date is extended relative to the number of spaces you already own.
This is the formula:
newExpirationDate = currentExpirationDate + 365d * (newSpaces / (currentSpaces + newSpaces))
Examples:
Current Spaces | New Spaces | Extension |
---|---|---|
1 | +3 | 274 days |
2 | +2 | 183 days |
4 | +1 | 73 days |
#What if I buy spaces for an expired license?
If you buy spaces for an expired license, your license's current expiration date will be extended according to the calculation above.
Note that it's not guaranteed that this will give you access to the latest version of Cakedesk. Therefor it's recommended to renew your license before buying additional spaces.
